Tiruppur Corporation pins hopes on bio-CNG, waste-to-energy plant to manage municipal waste
Tiruppur Corporation is pinning its hopes on a bio-CNG waste-to-energy plant to manage the city's municipal solid waste. The plant would convert organic waste into compressed biogas that can be used as vehicle fuel, easing pressure on landfills. Other Tamil Nadu civic bodies, including Tiruchi, Coimbatore and Salem, are pursuing similar projects, as municipalities look to treat waste as a resource.
