Tamil Nadu has the potential to build a ₹37,000-crore defence electronics industry by 2040, according to Defence Research and Development Organisation. Leveraging its strong electronics, semiconductor, aerospace, and automotive manufacturing ecosystem, the State could capture 20–25% of India’s projected ₹1.49-lakh crore defence electronics market. The roadmap also estimates annual defence electronics exports of up to ₹10,000 crore, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s role in advancing defence self-reliance.
