Srinagar begins biomining to clear 11.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste

Srinagar has launched a biomining and bioremediation project to clear around 11.5 lakh tonnes of legacy waste accumulated over four decades at the Achan dumping site. The initiative aims to complete waste clearance within two years and establish a modern integrated waste management facility. The project will help restore the city’s environment, improve waste processing infrastructure, and transform the dumping site into a sustainable and eco-friendly facility.
