Solar panel recycling should be next energy priority
As India's earliest large-scale solar installations approach mid-life, end-of-life solar panel disposal is emerging as a critical environmental challenge. With photovoltaic panels carrying a 25–30 year lifespan, a significant wave of decommissioned panels is expected within the decade. Experts are calling for a comprehensive regulatory framework — including producer mandates and fiscal incentives — to establish a formal solar panel recycling ecosystem.
