Polysilicon support scheme receives FinMin's in-principle approval

The Finance Ministry has given in-principle approval to MNRE’s proposed scheme to support domestic polysilicon manufacturing, with Cabinet approval expected within about a month. Polysilicon is the only solar value-chain segment without a support mechanism. India targets 30,000 MW of polysilicon capacity by 2030, needing roughly ₹25,000 crore. Module capacity stands at 225 GW and cell capacity at 37 GW, while China produces over 93% of global polysilicon.
