NGT asks starch firm to submit compliance report on violations

The Union Environment Ministry has resumed processing of retrospective environmental clearances roughly two months after a Supreme Court ruling. On September 30, it directed all expert appraisal committees, state-level environmental impact assessment authorities and pollution control boards to process such existing proposals, on the condition that no fresh proposals are accepted. The move covers projects that started construction or operations without prior environmental approval.
