Next ECMS tranche may greenlight rare earth magnet plants

The next tranche of India’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS) could support the establishment of rare earth permanent magnet (REPM) manufacturing plants. These magnets, made using elements such as neodymium and dysprosium, are critical for compact, high-performance electronic components and applications. The move could strengthen India’s domestic electronics supply chain, reduce import dependence and encourage local manufacturing of advanced components needed across automotive, consumer electronics and technology sectors.
