Natural gas loses industrial buyers as liquid fuels turn cheaper
City gas distributors are struggling to attract new industrial and commercial customers as natural gas remains costlier than alternative liquid fuels. New industrial connections fell 39% and commercial additions dropped 17% in the first half of FY26, with cheaper LPG and propane increasingly replacing natural gas amid lower crude oil prices and unchanged LNG costs.
