Industry seeks capex support as Govt brings in mandate for locally made ingots, wafers in clean power projects
The Government of India’s mandate under ALMM to use domestically produced solar ingots and wafers is expected to boost localisation in the solar sector. Effective from June 1, 2028, the policy will reduce import dependence but may increase upfront costs. Industry players are urging capital subsidies and incentives to support investments, as current domestic manufacturing capacity remains limited.
