India to invite bids for 220 MWe Small Modular Reactor, boosting nuclear push under green energy transition
India is set to invite bids for its first 220 MWe Bharat Small Modular Reactor (BSMR-200) within the next six months, marking a major step in strengthening nuclear power under its green energy transition. The pilot project, estimated at ₹30 crore per MW, will allow foreign firms to participate with local partners, aiming to accelerate scalable, low-carbon energy deployment and pave the way for future SMR expansion.
