India tells South Korea to consider negotiating fresh free trade pact

India has proposed initiating negotiations for a fresh free trade agreement with South Korea to strengthen bilateral economic ties and modernise the existing CEPA framework signed in 2010. Discussions between Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and South Korean counterpart Yeo Han-koo also covered plans for a dedicated Korean industrial township in India. Both nations aim to double trade to $54 billion by 2030 while addressing the growing trade imbalance.
