India must capture carbon to unleash climate action
India has significant potential in Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS), with theoretical storage capacity of 400–600 gigatonnes. Despite global CCS projects tripling, India has yet to launch major initiatives. Experts highlight the need to store 0.3–0.4 billion tonnes of CO₂ annually for a just transition and to meet climate goals, urging faster action from policymakers and companies like ONGC.
