India has potential for over 102 GW of floating solar capacity: MNRE
India holds over 102 GW of floating solar potential, according to a National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE) study released by MNRE, based on utilising 20% of reservoir and water body surface area. Floating solar photovoltaics (FSPV) offer a scalable complement to ground-mounted solar — conserving water through reduced evaporation while addressing land constraints in densely populated regions across India.
