Govt notifies GHG emission intensity targets for four more sectors
The Indian government has notified Greenhouse Gas Emission Intensity (GEI) targets for four additional sectors—Petroleum Refineries, Petrochemicals, Textiles, and Secondary Aluminium—under the Carbon Credit Trading Scheme. Effective from January 13, 2026, a total of 208 obligated entities in these sectors must now comply with specified emission intensity reduction targets, strengthening India’s carbon market and climate commitments.
