Govt may call bids for rare earth facilities by January end

India will invite bids by January for setting up rare earth permanent magnet (REPM) manufacturing facilities under a ₹7,280-crore incentive scheme. The initiative aims to build 6,000 MTPA of integrated capacity and reduce dependence on China, as REPMs are critical for EVs, renewable energy, electronics, and defence. The government is also securing global raw material supplies to ensure steady production.
