Govt introduces Bill to open up nuclear sector to private players
The government has introduced the Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India Bill, 2025, to allow private sector participation in India’s civil nuclear power sector. The Bill proposes a new nuclear liability regime while retaining sovereign control over strategic assets and nuclear material, aiming to expand nuclear energy’s role in India’s power mix and technological innovation.
