Gadkari pitches for E100 flex fuel vehicles to offset oil imports

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari has urged a faster transition towards 100% flex-fuel vehicles (FFVs) to reduce India’s dependence on oil imports amid global geopolitical risks. The government plans to promote multiple ethanol blends, including E20 as a standard fuel and higher blends up to E100 as optional fuels for compatible vehicles. A new policy push is underway to enable E100 FFV rollout, strengthening India’s ethanol-based energy self-reliance strategy.
