Exclusive: ByteDance developing AI chip, in manufacturing talks with Samsung, sources say
ByteDance is reportedly developing its own AI chip, codenamed SeedChip, and is in talks with Samsung for manufacturing and access to scarce memory supplies. The company plans to produce at least 100,000 units this year, potentially scaling to 350,000, as part of its broader $22 billion AI investment in 2026. The chip will support AI workloads across ByteDance’s platforms, including TikTok, e-commerce, and enterprise cloud services.
