EV start-ups seek five changes in Auto PLI as Heavy Industries Minister Kumaraswamy reviews suggestions
EV startups have urged the government to revise the Automotive Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to better support electric mobility innovation. Industry leaders have proposed changes including lower eligibility thresholds, recognition of R&D and intellectual property investments, and consideration of engineering and localisation efforts. The startups, which have invested around ₹20,000–25,000 crore in India’s EV ecosystem, seek a framework that reflects the sector’s rapid growth and technological advancements.
