DRAFT NATIONAL ELECTRICITY POLICY (NEP), 2026 RELEASED FOR PUBLIC CONSULTATION WITH STAKEHOLDERS

The Ministry of Power has released the Draft National Electricity Policy (NEP) 2026 for public consultation, aiming to transform India’s power sector for Viksit Bharat @2047. The policy sets targets for per capita consumption, net-zero emissions, renewable integration, advanced storage, nuclear and hydro expansion, financial viability, and grid modernization, providing a roadmap for a reliable, sustainable, and competitive electricity ecosystem.
