Defence Ministry clears 250 MW solar project with battery storage in Uttar Pradesh's Sitapur
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh approved India's first large-scale solar project on defence land — a 250 MW solar facility with integrated Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) of 50 MW/200 MWh capacity at Sitapur (ex-cantonment), Uttar Pradesh, spanning 850 acres. To be implemented by NTPC through competitive bidding, the project aims to strengthen long-term energy security for defence establishments while reducing conventional grid power dependence.
