Daimler secures expert panel backing for plant’s expansion

Daimler India Commercial Vehicles has won a fresh recommendation for environmental clearance to expand its Oragadam plant near Chennai. A state expert appraisal committee resolved two disputes that had stalled the proposal for more than a year. The recommendation moves the BharatBenz maker closer to final approval. It has also announced a ₹4,000 crore Tamil Nadu investment plan covering manufacturing, R&D and technology readiness.
