Customs duty waiver on key electronic parts will deepen value chain, ecosystem: IT Secretary

The Government of India has waived basic customs duty on key electronic manufacturing components used in display assemblies, lithium-ion cells, and inductor coil modules. IT Secretary S. Krishnan said the move will strengthen the domestic electronics component ecosystem, deepen value chains, and encourage local manufacturing. The decision, introduced following industry recommendations, is expected to boost investments and support India’s ambition to become a global electronics manufacturing hub.
