Commercial coal mine auctions conducted since 2020 are projected to generate around ₹47,500 crore in annual revenue, attract ₹55,000 crore in capital investment and create 4.9 lakh jobs across nine states, according to the Coal Ministry. The 147 auctioned mines have also expanded domestic production, with commercial coal output rising to 23.51 million tonnes in FY25, supporting reduced import dependence and energy security.
