Chennai airport expansion begins: New Terminal 5, flyover and approach road planned; here’s what we know about the project
The Tamil Nadu government has begun preliminary work on expanding Chennai airport, appointing a special district revenue officer for land acquisition. After dropping the Parandur greenfield airport plan, the state announced a new Terminal 5 in the airport's north-western area with the Airports Authority of India, along with an approach road and flyover. Terminal 5 is expected to raise capacity to about 55 million passengers annually.
