Chemvolt Global has proposed investing ₹2,500 crore, in two phases, in a lithium-ion battery cell manufacturing plant at the Smart Industrial Township in Ratlam, Madhya Pradesh. The company has applied to the state industrial development corporation for 23.90 hectares, and the allotment process has begun, with other statutory approvals to follow. Reports put the capacity at 5 GWh and the employment potential at about 2,000 direct jobs.
