Centre tells automakers to roll out Cyber Security Management System from October

The Government has advised automobile manufacturers to implement Cyber Security Management Systems (CSMS) and Software Update Management Systems (SUMS) from October to strengthen vehicle cybersecurity. The move follows recent Bluetooth-based battery management system vulnerabilities in electric vehicles, including remote shutdown incidents in e-rickshaws. Automakers are required to secure OTA updates, enhance authentication measures, conduct security audits, and improve software integrity to ensure safer connected and electric mobility solutions.
