Centre proposes motor vehicle rule changes to expand 100% ethanol fuel adoption

India’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has proposed new rules to accelerate adoption of 100% ethanol fuel vehicles. A draft amendment to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 expands standards to support fuels up to E85 and E100, while retaining E20 nationwide. The move also broadens compatibility norms and introduces B100 biodiesel, strengthening India’s push toward cleaner, alternative fuel mobility.
