Centre plans to create 7 State clusters backed by IITs to boost indigenous defence manufacturing
The Centre is planning to develop seven state clusters supported by IITs and centres of excellence to strengthen India’s indigenous defence manufacturing ecosystem. These clusters, separate from existing defence corridors, will focus on thematic areas and submit detailed roadmaps covering infrastructure, regulatory gaps, and ease-of-doing-business needs. The initiative aims to reduce import dependence, promote a whole-of-nation approach, and boost economic growth through expanded domestic defence production capabilities.
