The Union Cabinet approved a ₹2,169 crore project to extend Ahmedabad's Metro network 6 km to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, adding five stations across Phase 2(A). Once operational, Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar will have 77.63 km of active Metro rail network — closing a critical urban transit gap and reducing road dependency for air passengers, airport employees, and daily commuters.
