Cabinet approves scheme on ‘Small Hydro Power (SHP) Development Scheme for the period FY 2026-27 to FY 2030-31’

The Union Cabinet has approved the Small Hydro Power (SHP) Development Scheme for FY 2026–27 to 2030–31 with an outlay of ₹2,584.60 crore to support around 1,500 MW capacity. The initiative promotes decentralized renewable energy, especially in hilly and North Eastern regions, while boosting investment, employment, and indigenous manufacturing aligned with Government of India clean energy goals.
