At 41,221, Tamil Nadu retains 2024-25’s top spot for highest factory count
Tamil Nadu retained its top rank for registered factories in the Annual Survey of Industries 2024-25, with 41,221 units, or 15.44 per cent of the national total. Gujarat followed with 33,084 and Maharashtra with 27,379. Tamil Nadu's share of manufacturing gross value added rose to 10.90 per cent, placing it third, while it also led all states in manufacturing employment share at 14.99 per cent.
