Ashok Leyland Adds Battery Pack Assembly Facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam

Ashok Leyland is setting up a greenfield battery pack manufacturing facility at SIPCOT Pillaipakkam Industrial Park, about 43 km from Chennai. The first phase involves an investment of roughly ₹400–500 crore, part of the Hinduja Group’s wider commitment. Packs for electric vehicles and energy storage will initially use LFP cells imported from China’s CALB, with production targeted for 2027, serving Ashok Leyland, other EV makers and storage companies.
