As West Asia conflict intensifies, OMCs to push for more LPG storage facilities

Amid escalating West Asia tensions, India’s oil marketing companies (OMCs) are accelerating plans to expand LPG storage infrastructure to safeguard supply. With imports disrupted, firms are exploring new underground caverns similar to existing facilities in Mangaluru and Visakhapatnam, which together store about 1.4 lakh tonnes. The move is part of a medium-to-long term strategy to enhance energy security and reduce vulnerability to global geopolitical uncertainties.
