AP’s recast of SEZ concept holds promise

Andhra Pradesh is reimagining the SEZ model by creating three large Economic Development Zones in Visakhapatnam, Amaravati, and Tirupati. Unlike traditional SEZs, which often became isolated enclaves with underutilised land, the new framework aims to foster regional industrial growth, attract investment, and address structural shortcomings that limited the impact of earlier zoning policies in India.
